Sons of God is an ongoing serial centering around Mae Bishop (who first appeared in the “Night Driving” portion of my book Women’s Work).
The serial chronicles Mae’s journey as she’s pulled into an underworld ruled by supernatural forces and characterized by demonic violence, searching for a way out that won’t forfeit her soul — all while on the lam for killing her abusive husband.
Season One: Flesh and Blood is complete.
Season Two: Daughters of Men is now in progress.

When Mae Bishop finally did in her abusive husband and dumped his body in the river, she thought her troubles were behind her. When his ghost shows up and leads her away from the police and straight into the lair of a serial killer, she realizes trouble never left. And when a mysterious angelic being recruits her for purposes yet unknown, Mae knows she and trouble are in it for the long haul.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Flesh and Blood: Episode Nine
This is the conclusion of the first season of my ongoing serial, Sons of God.
Season two picks up with Mae fleeing to the Windy City after making a deal with the mysterious and otherworldly entity she not so affectionately calls Ziggy, with Special Agent Chance Davies in hot pursuit. With only the ghost of her late husband to guide her — you know, the one she killed in self-defense before dumping his body and getting out of Dodge — she wastes no time making new enemies, and a precious few friends, as she works to untangle the web she’s gotten herself into and discovers just what, exactly, Ziggy wants her for.
