Weekly Update: A Change of Plans and Some $0.99 Books!
Desolation is coming...
Hello there! It’s been a few weeks since this “weekly (ish)” update made it to your inbox, but that’s only because I’ve been short on news to share. I’ve been plugging away at Season Two of my Sons of God serial, but now that spring has officially sprung, other various and sundry projects, necessities and responsibilities are competing for my time.
Here’s one of them:
That’s Bunsen Honeydew, nee Picasso, who was recently given to us by a young family that simply didn’t have the capacity to take care of him. Caring for bunnies is an entirely new venture for us, and it’s taking some time as we figure out how to properly care for him, integrate him into our multi-species household and fit him into our routines.
I’m also juggling multiple writing projects, helping Husband with his music business, and we’re back to work on our property development now that the weather has warmed up. All of which is to explain why I need to announce a change in my planned publishing schedule.
Rather than launching Daughters of Men this month as originally planned, I’ve decided it makes more sense to swap its place on the roster with my novel Desolation — book one of my Dominion of the Damned trilogy. This is mainly to give myself more time to get more episodes of Daughters of Men in the can so that I’ll be able to keep a consistent publishing schedule once it’s launched.
As such, watch for Desolation to launch here next week! As with Restless Spirits, I’ll be sending out two chapters twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, over the next nine weeks. Here’s a sneak peek so you’ll know what to expect (and as always, if you don’t want to get this story in your inbox, you can click Unsubscribe in the email footer and turn off your subscription for the (yet to be created) Dominion section):
Nursing student Hannah Jordan expected to spend spring break welcoming her new brother into the world. She didn't expect to deliver him herself in her family's backyard bunker as her mother lay dying from a bite wound while her neighbors tear each other to pieces outside. Newly orphaned with a baby to raise, Hannah only knows one thing for certain: all the survival training her daddy put her through didn't prepare her for this.
Months later, Hannah emerges from the safety of her shelter to find that zombies are the least of her problems. A race of vampires has emerged from the shadows and seized power over what remains of humanity. Styling themselves as saviors, in reality they're slave masters, demanding payment for their so-called protection in labor and blood. Hunted, abducted and separated from her brother, Hannah is thrown into a prison camp where she quickly learns that the monsters inside the walls are far more dangerous than the zombies roaming outside.
But not all vampires are power-hungry psychopaths, and not all humans are benevolent victims. Who can Hannah trust? She finds allies, enemies, and even love in surprising places in her quest to find her brother, make their escape and survive this strange new world where zombies roam, vampires rule and humans are penned up like cattle.
2nd Book Love Sale!
It’s generally customary to promote a series by marking down the first book. But it’s my birthday month and I can be a little contrary to the customs if I want to, and I want to give my Book Two’s some love (I think they’re both better than the original, anyway). This month, Book Two of each of my series are on sale for only 99 cents! Click here or on the image below to grab your copies from your favorite online bookseller (or click here to go straight to Amazon).
Thanks for Being Here!
I love and appreciate all my readers, but I want to give a special shout-out to my lurkers — those of you who faithfully take time to quietly read what I’m putting out there. You might not know it, but you’re the backbone of this publication and I’m so grateful that you keep showing up. You might not comment or go out of your way to be seen, but I still see you, and I appreciate you. Thank you.
