Welcome to Through a Glass, Darkly’s weekly(ish) update!
Through a Glass, Darkly is the fiction publication of horror and supernatural thriller author Jean Marie Bauhaus (that’s me!), where I’m publishing my new fiction for you to read free for a limited time before it makes it into book form (paid subscribers can access all the fiction I post here all the time and read at their leisure). If you’re new here, first, HI! Second, check out the About page and the Roadmap to learn more, and go here to update your subscription preferences.
What you’re reading now is my semi-regular weekly newsletter.
Hello hello!
I just thought I should check in and give a quick life update, since I don’t really have any work to update you about. I’m still in this hectic transitional season where all my writing and publishing plans keep getting pushed to the side while we focus on making up for all of the delays caused by sickness and bad weather that put us about 8 months behind on our property projects. The weather has been pretty fantastic lately, for the most part, and we’ve been more or less healthy for just as long, so as the saying goes, we’ve got to make hay while the sun’s still shining.
I am working on a short story for an anthology, though that’s happening in fits and starts. The submission deadline isn’t until Halloween, so I’m still optimistic that I’ll be able to finish it on time.
I’m beginning to accept that it’s very likely that I won’t really be able to make fiction a focus or priority until winter settles in and/or we finish our current projects. Nevertheless, I’m going to keep plugging away when I can.
I also still have high hopes of starting a podcast or author vlog relating to this publication. I bit the bullet and launched a podcast for my other publication, Spirit, Sword and Truth, and with two episodes under my belt I’m becoming slightly more comfortable in front of the camera and mic. But for now, fitting that in consistently is a challenge. I’m hoping that once I get a routine and rhythm established, it will be fairly easy to fit in a second podcast. But that’s probably a goal for early next year.
I’m also kicking around the idea of serializing my sweet romance novel, Gone to the Dogs, here to tide us over until my horror trilogies are out of Kindle jail and/or I can start writing regularly again. I’m hesitant because it’s so different than what y’all are used to. So let’s do a quick poll:
Here’s the description to help you decide.
Speaking of my KU novels, I’m planning to run a discount promo event soon, if I can get organized enough to pull it together.
So that’s where I’m at, currently. This “weeklish” update will probably continue to be bi-weekly or even monthly until things pick up again on the writing front, unless I have some actual news to share, such as that upcoming promo.
Oh, and I did post the first part of a published story this week (with part two coming next week), so check that out below.
Until next time!
