Weekly Update: The Based Book Sale is Underway! Plus Coming Attractions
Welcome to Through a Glass, Darkly’s weekly(ish) update!
Through a Glass, Darkly is the fiction publication of horror and supernatural thriller author Jean Marie Bauhaus (that’s me!), where I’m publishing my new fiction for you to read free for a limited time before it makes it into book form (paid subscribers can access all the fiction I post here all the time and read at their leisure). If you’re new here, first, HI! Second, check out the About page and the Roadmap to learn more, and go here to update your subscription preferences.
What you’re reading now is my semi-regular weekly newsletter.
Hello and happy Friday!
I don’t have a lot to share this week. The Summer Based Book Sale is in full swing, where you can find a ridiculous number of amazing books by very talented people for only 99 cents (and in some cases, free).
I tried to enter all of my books in the sale, but due to already being overwhelmed with participants, they only accepted my books from The Spirits Series and Dominion of the Damned, as well as my novella-length ebooks Terror at Lake Eucha, The Hag and The Witch in the Cellar.
However, ALL of my fiction books are marked down to 99 cents on Amazon, so check here and here to see if there’s anything you’d like that’s not officially included in the sale. Oh, and also here — for some reason, Fragments and Fancies doesn’t show up on my Books2Read page.
In Case You Missed it…
Speaking of Fragments & Fancies, on Wednesday I posted a flash fiction piece from that collection, along with a list of short horror and paranormal fiction recommendations from Substack’s Fictionstack community.
And on Monday I posted my new short story, Tom, a fictionalized brush with true crime which received good feedback in the comments.
Editing/Copy Writing Giveaway for Indie Authors (Enter All Month Long)!
Attention fellow indie authors! Over on Self-Publishing for the Broke Author, I’m running a giveaway for my subscribers. Two winners will be chosen by random at the end of the month to receive their choice of a free rewrite of their book’s About copy OR a free critique and edit of their book’s first five pages.
If you’d like to get in on that action, all you have to do is subscribe to Broke Author and leave a comment on this post to let me know you wish to enter.
Next up: Daughters of Men (Sons of God season 2)
The continuation of my Sons of God serial that began with Flesh and Blood kicks off on Monday.
Season two picks up with Mae fleeing to the Windy City after making a deal with the mysterious and otherworldly entity she not so affectionately calls Ziggy, with Special Agent Chance Davies in hot pursuit. With only the ghost of her late husband to guide her — you know, the one she killed in self-defense before dumping his body and getting out of Dodge — she wastes no time making new enemies, and a precious few friends, as she works to untangle the web she’s gotten herself into and discovers just what, exactly, Ziggy wants her for.
Be sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss an episode:
That’s all for this week! Until next time.
